Oneonta, NY - A day after playing 52 minutes before its game against Utica was canceled due to severe lightning, Marywood got its 2013 season underway on Sunday afternoon at Hartwick College's Elmore Field. Alixandria Fiore put the Pacers up 1-0 in the first half but an early second half tally from the Hawks leveled the game and the score would remain the same through two overtimes as the two squads settled for a 1-1 draw at the Erinn K. Brozman Cup.

The Hawks had a chance to take the early lead in the 28th minute. Cristina Sicari dribbled down the left side of the field and hit a cross that slid in front of the goal but could not connect with a teammate.

The Pacers would strike first when Fiore received a drop pass from Carly Kliment and hit a floating shot near the top of the box that sailed over the outstretched arms of Hartwick goalie Annie Miller and into the net to put Marywood ahead 1-0. Both Kliment and Krista Capelli were credited with assists after Kliment re-directed Capelli's original drop pass with one touch.  The Pacers nearly took a 2-0 lead in the 40th minute but Kimberly Vogan's 20-yard strike bounced off the left post and out of play.

Early in the second half, Sicari again had an opportunity to get Hartwick on the scoreboard when she got past a diving Victoria Pezdirtz and nailed a cross pass that was just over the head of Cami Cleaveland. 'Wick would finally score in the 60th minute when Sicari's shot was saved by Pezdirtz but went to Cleaveland who put the rebound in to tie the game up at 1-1.

In the first overtime period, Sicari almost scored the game-winner as she sliced through the Marywood defense, but her shot went high over the crossbar. The Pacers nearly won the game themselves less than a minute into the second overtime when Angela Heydt hit a free kick that Millar punched up into the air for a huge save to help preserve the tie.

Millar, starting in her first game in a Hartwick uniform, saved five shots for the Hawks. Pezdirtz had four saves for Marywood.

Hartwick led in total shots 11-10 but Marywood got six of those on goal compared to five for 'Wick. The Hawks had five corner kicks to the Pacers' three.

Marywood returns to action next Saturday when it hosts York College at 1:00 pm in the opening game of the 3rd annual Joe Bochicchio Memorial Classic. The University of Scranton hosts Lebanon Valley College at the same time on Saturday and on Sunday Marywood will take on LVC with Scranton hosting York.
