Center Valley, PA - Amelia Waibel's goal with less than two minutes to play was not enough as Marywood's late comeback bid against host DeSales University fell short in a 2-1 loss to the Bulldogs Saturday afternoon in non-conference field hockey action. DeSales improved to 2-3 overall, while the Pacers slipped to 0-5.

DeSales opened the scoring in the 28th minute of play on a goal from Meryah Harding, her first of the year. Harding's tally was assisted by Alison Malatesta. The Bulldogs doubled their lead six minutes into the second half as Jesse Marshall scored an unassisted goal that would prove to be the eventual game-winner.

With 1:54 left on the clock, the Pacers made the game more interesting with Waibel's tally, her first of the year. Waibel put home a pass from Julie Kowalski to cut the DeSales lead in half. From there, Marywood could not generate another shot as time expired giving DeSales the win.

The Bulldogs had a 12-7 advantage in shots (7-2 on goal). Natalie Winters made five stops in goal for the Pacers.

Marywood returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Susquehanna University at 7:00 pm.
