Volleyball Finishes Fourth at Oswego Tournament

Oswego, NY - After falling 25-13 in the first set, Marywood University rallied to defeat Utica College 3-1 Saturday to finish the second day of the Oswego Tournament with a split. Marywood fell to tournament winner SUNY Institute of Technology 3-0 in Saturday's other match. The Pacers completed the tournament with a 2-2 record and finished in fourth place, losing the head-to-head tiebreaker with host Oswego State.

Kelly Chadwick and Rachel Tollett were named to the all-tournament team. Through the tournament's four matches, Chadwick recorded 130 assists (32.5 per match) and Tollett had 83 digs (20.75 per match). Marywood (6-3) had the second-most athletes named to the All-Tournament.

Both Chadwick and Tollett enjoyed personal tournament highs in the victory over Utica. Chadwick assisted on 39 points, and Tollett picked up 25 digs.

The Pacers defeated the Pioneers (4-5) by scores of 13-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-22. Ashley Zalewski and Mikayla Bristol produced 14 kills apiece. Bristol also contributed with 18 digs, and Amanda Khozouri garnered 16 digs.

Marywood's defensive game posed problems for the Pioneers. The Pacers recorded 90 digs to Utica's 24.

SUNYIT (9-1) defeated the Pacers in three games by scores of 25-19, 25-22, 25-18. The Wildcats were led by Deasia Goodwin and Hanne Saarinen's 10 kills. SUNYIT owned an attack percentage of .262 for the game.

Marywood had a nine-kill effort from Sara Melick. Zalewski made eight kills and zero errors on 19 attempts for a .421 hitting percentage. Tollett piled 20 digs, and Chadwick provided 29 assists.

The Pacers begin their Colonial States Athletic Conference schedule Wednesday at Rosemont College. Marywood will follow that with a two-day affair at the FDU-Florham Quad Match on Friday and Saturday.
