Scranton, PA - Shannon Stoll had a goal and an assist and Marywood University picked up their first win of 2013 by coming from behind to defeat visiting Cairn University 2-1 in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon in Scranton.  Marywood got the game-winner from Jeanne Russo to move to 1-5-1 (1-0 CSAC) on the year. Cairn fell to 2-5 (0-2 CSAC) with the loss.

Marywood controlled tempo througout much of the game but could not find the back of the net in the first half.  In the 30th minute, it looked like the Pacers went up 1-0 but Erin Doyle was called for a questionable offsides violation after she put the ball into the net on an Emily Osborne cross.

The Highlanders broke the deadlock in teh 52nd minute when Kathleen Meacham found a wide open Laurisa Wager in the middle of the 18 yard box.  Wager calmly placed a bent ball past Marywood's Victoria Pezdirtz for the game's first tally.

Marywood answered four minutes later when Stoll netted her first tally of the year.  Stoll received  a through ball up top, beat two defenders then chipped Naomi Collipp as she came off the line from 20 yards out to level the score at 1-1.

Twenty-two minutes later, Stoll nearly found the game-winner as she cut the ball through the 18 and inside the six yard box.  Stoll got tripped up by several defenders and as the ball rolled free Russo one-timed home the game-winner.

Pezdirtz made three saves in the win as the Pacers out-shot the visitors 15-10 (7-4 on goal) for the day.

Marywood returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Allentown to take on Cedar Crest College at 4:00 pm.
