Gwynedd Valley, PA - Host Gwynedd Mercy University rallied from 2-1 deficit to hand Marywood University a 5-4 loss in a rematch of the 2012 CSAC women's tennis Championship where the Pacers won the title and a automatic berth into the NCAA tournament.  The Griffins improved to 9-1 (5-0 CSAC) with the win while Marywood fell to 3-1 (3-1 CSAC) with the loss.

After GMU's #1 doubles team of Rachel Fein and Gabrielle Muller downed Marywood's Carly Leitzel and Melissa Hudock 8-4 to open play, Marywood rallied with wins at number two and three doubles to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles action.  Rebecca Lukasak and Avery McCall earned an 8-3 win at #3 doubles to level the match at 1-1 before Megan Nastelli and Kristen Lambert picked up a big 9-7 win at #2 doubles  to give Marywood the slim one point lead after doubles play.

Fein beat Leitzel 6-1, 7-6 (12-10) in a battle at #1 singles while Taylor Michener beat Hudock 6-3, 6-2 at #2 singles.  Marywood's McCall was a 7-5, 6-2 victor at #6 singles but GMU's Kristen Kriebel kept the Griffins up with a 6-4, 6-1 win at #4 singles.  In two tightly contested matches, Gwynedd's Muller got the better of Nastelli at #3 singles in three sets (6-2, 5-7, 6-3) while Marywood's Lukasak downed Kellie Booth 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 at #5 singles.

With the win the Griffins hold a slight edge for the top seed in next month's CSAC Championships.  Marywood will look to get back to their winning ways next Friday when they host Keystone College in CSAC play at 3:00 pm.
