Allentown, PA - Marywood University got points from nine different players, including two goals from Krista Capelli and a goal and an assist from both Elizabeth Carlson and Brianna Bruster, as the Pacers defeated host Cedar Crest College 8-2 in women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon.  Marywood improved to 2-5-1 (2-0 CSAC) with the win while the Falcons fell to 2-5 (0-1 CSAC).

Despite the final, it was the Falcons who found the goal first and the hosts actually held two leads in the game.  Just over ten minutes in, Courtney Long was fouled and Allison Rittle took advantage with a beautifully struck free kick from 30 yeards out to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.  Marywood answered just 21 seconds later as Capelli tied the game by finishing a slot pass from Carlson to make it 1-1.

But the tie was short lived as well, as Long took advantage of another miscue on the Pacers' back line and put the hosts up 2-1 with a breakaway goal of her own.  The Falcons' lead was again short lived as Carlson scored on a breakaway of her own just over a minute later to make it 2-2.

Six minutes later, Kimberly Vogan put the Pacers up for good when she headed home a corner kick from Brianna Bruster.  Bruster would then give Marywood a little insurance before halftime with a goal in the 39th minute.

In the second half, Marywood got goals from Francesca Russo, Shannon Stoll, Jeanne Russo and Capelli to make it an 8-2 final.  Francesca Russo scored in the 66th minute off a feed inside the six yard box from Allison Warner while Stoll put home a penalty kick in the 73rd minute after Carlson was fouled inside the box.  Jeanne Russo scored on a far-post slot from Carlson in the 80th minute and Capelli closed the scoring with a one-time volley from outside the 18 yard box on a far cross from Amy Moren.

Kayla Murphy registered one save in goal to get the win as Marywodo out-shot the hosts 39-3.

Marywood returns to action Saturday when they host Baptist Bible College at 1:00 pm.
