Scranton, PA - For the second consecutive game, Marywood University men's soccer played to a tie after 120 minutes, finishing at a 1-1 stalemate with Widener University Saturday in the opening day of the Marywood/Wilkes Tournament in Scranton.

The Pacers (0-0-2) scored its first goal of the season off a booming direct kick from Daniel Lopez. Lopez tied the game at one apiece when he curled the ball to the far-side, top-right corner from 22 yards out in the 57th minute. Lopez's goal was constructed from excellent ball control work by Daniel Hull that caused the Pride to foul, setting up the direct kick.

Marywood traded direct kick goals after Widener's Tori Remondelli scored on a 25 yarder five minutes earlier. Set up in the middle of the field, Remondelli connected on his fourth of the season, going far right past the defending line to give the Pride (2-1-1) a one-goal lead.

Marywood held control throughout most of the game, outshooting the Pride by 29-16 and holding a 16-9 advantage in shots on goal. The Pacers had six corner kicks to Widener's one.

Justin Sunseri picked up his second tie for Marywood in as many games with eight saves. The Pride's Jakub Valdner made 15 stops to hold the Pacers at bay.

Marywood had several golden chances to produce a win late in regulation and during overtime. Casey Peckio was positioned for a potential game-winning goal with 17 seconds remaining in the second half but Valdner dove right to keep it out of net.

The Pacers continue play Sunday at 4:00 pm against Stevenson University in the final game of the Marywood/Wilkes Tournament at Pacer Turf Field.
