Men's Swimming & Diving Beat Susquehanna, Women Split

Scranton, PA - Marywood University's men's swimming and diving team improved to 8-3 (4-1 Landmark) with a 142-81 win over Susquehanna University Saturday afternoon while the Pacers' women's squad fell to the Crusaders 104-114 but beat Juniata 119-79 to move to 5-8 (2-4 Landmark) on the year.  Anthony Pisano set a new school record in the 50 free on the men's side as part of the win.

Susquehanna's women's 200 yard medley relay team took the opening event with Marywood finishing second and Juniata third.  Marywood's men's team of Daniel Adams, Chris Brown, Thomas Missal and Pisano won the men's 200 medley relay in 1:40.81.  In the men's 100 yard freestyle, Eddie Sanborn III finished first in 10:28.28 while Joseph Buderwitz finished second in 10:28.58. 

In the 200 free, Katie Paterson won it for the Pacers in 2:04.74 while Zachary Haney won the men's 200 free in 1:47.99 to edge teammate Jason Beabout (1:48.90).  Catherine Anlas won the women's 50 free in 25.86 while Pisano's new school record came in a time of 22.10. 

In one-meter diving, Tiffany Mathis scored a 174.85, Heather Wimmer a 173.85 and Katherine Alexander a 163.80. 

Missal and Haney took first and second, respectively, in teh men's 100 butterfly while Pisano won the 100 free in 49.22 with Adams finishing secodn in 50.71.  Brian Shanahan won the 100 backstroke for the men in 58.11 and Paterson won the 500 free for the women in 5:29.60 with Beabout, Buderwitz and Sanborn III finishing 1-3 in the men's 500 free, respectively. 

Marywood's men's 400 yard freestyle relay team of Haney, Beabout, Bryon Scholl and Adams closed the event with a win for the Pacers. 

Marywood will host Goucher College next Saturday (January 18) at 1:00 pm in their final tune-up before the Landmark Conference Championships.
