Scranton, PA – Marywood University dropped its first Colonial States Athletic Conference game of the season in a 64-56 defeat Saturday at the hands of Neumann University. The Knights overcame a five-point halftime deficit and pulled off a 13-1 run in the second half to down the Pacers.

Ashley Murray led the Pacers (9-4, 4-1 CSAC) with 15 points after totaling 13 of the Pacers' first 19 points of the game. Morgann Haduck joined Murray in double figures with 14 points. The pair helped Marywood register 11 3-pointers – one shy of the school record. Haduck drained four of her six 3-point attempts, and Murray made three from beyond the arc.

Brittany Mang was the Pacers' top rebounder with nine boards. Carly Leitzel and Danielle Terranella each grabbed eight off the glass.

Both teams failed to gather any sort of momentum in the first half with poor shooting performances in the first 15 minutes of the game. Murray finally sparked the Pacers with 3-pointers on consecutive possessions to give Marywood a 19-16 lead at 3:56.

Just before the half, Haduck went on a tear with three 3-pointers in the final two minutes. She sank one with 2.3 seconds remaining to supply Marywood with a 30-25 halftime lead.

Marywood owned its largest lead of the game at eight when Alexa Gerchman bucketed a long-distance 3-pointer on the first possession of the second half. Following a Maddie Lavery jumper in the corner to put the green and gold ahead 38-33 at 15:33, the Pacers suffered a dry spell. Neumann (6-6, 3-2 CSAC) held Marywood to without a field goal for 8:11. The Knights took the lead on a Jordan Ogden layup under the basket and lead by as many as 10 before Haduck hit a three.

The Pacers slimmed the lead to one possession with just over two minutes to go. Mang sent a cross-court pass to Leitzel, who drained an open three to make it a 59-56 deficit. Two Knight turnovers later, Marywood had a shot to tie the game; however, Murray's 3-pointer rang out of the basket. Neumann's Jessica Schlesman and Colleen Hinde collectively knocked down three of four free throws to secure the win.

Marywood outrebounded the Knights by a 46-44 margin. The two teams combined for 45 turnovers, and Neumann led 4-2 in blocks.

Neumann made 15 free throws (71.4 percent) to the Pacers' three on six attempts. Marywood shot 30 percent from the field, while Neumann connected on 39.3 percent of its shots. The Pacers were 11 for 29 from 3-point range for a 37.9 percent average.

Neumann's Erica Marvel scored 20 points. JoHanna Metzger added 15, and Schlesman led the game with 10 boards.

Marywood returns home Monday as part of a doubleheader with Baptist Bible College. The women's team will face the Defenders at 6:00 pm before men's basketball tips off at approximately 8:00 pm.
