Scranton, PA – Ahead 16-14 through the first eight minutes, Marywood University women's basketball went on a 57-13 run the rest of the way to defeat Cedar Crest College 73-27 in its first Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup of the new year. The Pacers (9-3, 4-0 CSAC) kept the Falcons to just two field goals for the final 32 minutes for its second win in three days.

Marywood was led by Ashley Murray's 11 points. After connecting both of her free throws, she stands one shy of tying the school's consecutive free throws mark set by Mariah Schaeffer. Murray has hit 21 straight, dating back to Jan. 12, 2012 against Immaculata University.

Carly Leitzel joined her in double digits with 10. Danielle Terranella was the team's top rebounder with seven to complement her nine points.

Shayna Orr posted a personal-best nine points and five rebounds. Alexa Gerchman dished out five assists. Maddie Lavery recorded a season-high three blocks.

Marywood went 7-for-13 from beyond the arc for a season-high 3-point percentage of 53.8. Leitzel and Nora Joyce hit both of their attempted threes.

The Pacer defense proved pervasive, holding the Falcons to just seven field goals and a 16.7 field goal percentage. It is the Pacers' lowest field goals allowed mark since holding Keystone College to six on Jan. 28, 2011. Cedar Crest went 1-for-9 (11 percent) from past the 3-point line.

Cedar Crest (1-10, 0-4 CSAC) posed problems for the Pacers through the game's first eight minutes. A five-point run, capped by two Taylor Osley free throws, made it a 12-10 Marywood lead at 13:50. The Pacers and Falcons traded baskets for the next two minutes, and a DeJanet Lantion jumper made it 16-14 at the 12:00 mark in the first half.

Gerchman ignited the offense with a jumper at the 10:52 mark. Marywood fielded a 12-0 run, and a pair of Kimmy Green field throws made it 28-14 at 8:05. A Breonna Lewis layup at 4:58 was the Falcons' only field for the remainder of the half. After Amber Kehry hit a jumper on the Falcons' second possession of the second half, Marywood kept the Falcons to without a bucket for the final 19:05. The Pacers outscored Cedar Crest 30-8 in the second half.

Lewis led Cedar Crest with 12 points. Wehry had seven rebounds and six points.

Marywood returns to the Insalaco Arena on Saturday to host Neumann University at 1:00 pm.
