Scranton, PA - Visiting Gwynedd Mercy University got a pair of goals from Brianna O'Connell as the Griffins handed Marywood University a 3-1 setback in Colonial States Athletic Conference field hockey action Saturday afternoon in Scranton. The loss drops the Pacers to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in league play while the Griffins improve to 9-3, 2-0 CSAC.  Leanne McManus had the Pacers' lone goal.

O'Connell got things started for the visitors when she poked home a feed from Melissa Russo between the goalie's legs in the 6th minute of action.  The Pacers found the equalizer in the 25th minute as McManus scored off a rebound from a Julie Kowalski shot.

The tie game did not last long as GMU found the eventual game-winner just three minutes later.  At 28:42, Stephanie Bacho scored off an assist from Katie O'Neill to make it 2-1 in favor of the Griffins.

Gwynedd would tack on one more in the 44th minute to put the game out of reach.

Kayle Huey made 22 saves for the Pacers while five defenders were credited with defensive saves for Marywood, who was out-shot 43-7 on the afternoon.  Samantha Socia made five saves in net for the visitors.

Marywood returns to action mid-week with a trip to Aurora, New York for a non-conference matchup with Wells College.
