Aston, PA - Visiting Marywood University clinched at least the third seed in the upcoming CSAC women's tennis playoffs with a 9-0 win over host Neumann University Tuesday afternoon. The Pacers (8-1 CSAC, 9-1 overall) could become the #2 seed or perhaps even see the #1 seed depending on all the Conference results Friday.

Marywood jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles Tuesday against the Knights.  Marywood cruised at #2 doubles (Avery McCall/Elspeth Peterson) 8-2 and at #3 doubles (Devon Underwood/Natalie Burke) 8-1 and took a tight 8-6 win at #1 doubles by Megan Nastelli and Kristen Lambert.

In singles, Nastelli won at #1 6-2, 6-3 while McCall won at #3 6-0, 6-1.  Rebecca Lukasak was a 6-1, 6-4 winner at #4 and Underwood won 6-2, 6-1 at #5.  Burke finished strong for the Pacers at #6, 6-1, 6-1.  Lambert won 8-2 at #2 in a match that was started late and played to eight points because of darkness approaching.

Marywood faces Cairn at 6:00 pm Friday.  A win over the Highlanders would likely ensure the Pacers the #2 seed, but Marywood also must await the results of Cabrini (9-0 CSAC) versus Gwynedd Mercy (7-1 CSAC).  A Marywood win over  Cairn and a Gwynedd win over Cabrini Friday would mean the three teams would have to wait for the Griffins' results Saturday against Cedar Crest to determine which team with one league loss would be the top seed.  A Cabrini win over GMU and a Marywood win over Cairn would guarantee the Pacers the #2 seed.
