Pair of Second Half Goals Lifts Field Hockey Over Immaculata

Immaculata, PA - Marywood University rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit thanks to second half goals from Leanne McManus and Tori Jo Kakusian as the Pacers downed host Immaculata University 2-1 in CSAC field hockey action Saturday afternoon. Marywood improved to 7-7 overall and 2-3 in league play with the win while the Mighty Macs fell to 6-10 (2-2 CSAC) with the loss.

Immaculata controlled almost the entire first half and much of the game according to the statistics, with the hosts holding an 18-4 advantage in shots in the opening half and a 31-11 advantage for the game. Marywood only had the upper hand in penalty corners (10-5) and saves (15-3).

Thirteen and a half minutes into the game, Immaculata got on the board when Lindsay Cras scored her second goal of the season from eight yards out of an assist from Hannah Stambaugh. The score remained 1-0 until the 56th minute when McManus tapped in a corner for her ninth goal of the season. Amelia Waibel got the assist.

Then, with 4:09 to play, Kakusian ripped home a shot off a penalty corner from just inside the arc for the game-winner.

Kayle Huey made a game-high 14 stops for the Pacers.

Marywood returns to action Thursday when they close out their non-conference schedule with a trip to Moravian.
