Aston, PA - The 2014 Colonial States Athletic Conference women's tennis championship field is set and will be contested Friday and Saturday at the Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center in Philadelphia, Pa. Defending champion Gwynedd Mercy University (10-4, 9-1 CSAC) has secured the top seed in the four-team tournament with a 9-1 CSAC mark. Marywood also finished at 9-1 in the CSAC but lost a three-way tie-breaker with Gwynedd and Cabrini.

The Griffins, who claimed the No. 1 seed by virtue of several tiebreaking scenarios, have advanced to the championship match each of the last eight seasons. Gwynedd Mercy captured the CSAC crown five of the last six years.

Second-seeded Cabrini College (12-5, 9-1 CSAC), a CSAC semifinalist a year ago, also finished with a 9-1 record after suffering its only conference setback to Gwynedd Mercy in the final match of the season. The Cavaliers look to reach the title match for the first time since 2011 and are in search of their fifth conference title and first since 2007.

The 2013 CSAC runner-up, Marywood University, occupies the No. 3 seed and, on October 3, became the first CSAC squad to defeat the Griffins (5-4) since the 2007 season, ending a run of 70 straight decisions. The Pacers also finished the 2014 campaign with a 9-1 league mark and are 10-1 overall on the season. Marywood, a 15-time CSAC finalist, won its 10th team title in program history in 2012. Top singles player Megan Nastelli was recently named the 2014 CSAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year and earned first team singles and first team doubles honors.

Immaculata University (11-6, 7-3 CSAC) returns to the playoff field for the second consecutive year after posting a 7-3 league record. The Mighty Macs ended the regular season on a high note with a 5-4 triumph over Neumann University. A semifinal victory Friday would be the program's first since 2005.

No. 1 Gwynedd Mercy will take on No. 4 Immaculata at 9:30 a.m. Friday, followed by No. 2 Cabrini versus No. 3 Marywood in the second semifinal, which will begin approximately 30 minutes after the first semifinal ends. The two winners will vie for the title and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
