Catholic Earns Landmark Win over Marywood Men and Women

Scranton, PA - Marywood University opened Landmark Conference action with a pair of losses as both the men and women fell to the Catholic University of America in swimming and diving action Saturday afternoon at Marywood's Aquatics Center.  The Cardinal beat the Pacers 156.5-121.5 on the men's side and 153-123 in the women's meet.  Zack Haney won two events for the men and Kim Petersen won three on the women's side.

Catholic won both the 200 yard medley relay events to open the meet and grab 11 points on both the men's and women's side.  The Cardinals would pick up two more wins on the women's side in the 1000 free and 200 free and one more on the men's in the 1000 free before Marywood's Haney won the Pacers' first event of the day in the 200 free.  Haney (1:48.55) and teammate Jason Beabout (1:51.53) took first and second in the 200. 

Daniel Adams kept the Pacers moving with a win in the 100 backstroke (56.19) and Petersen earned the first women's win of the day for the Pacers in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.50).  Hailey Moorehead finished second in 1:15.02. 

In one-meter diving, Marywood's Courtney Snyder earned nine points with a 195.20 and Heather Wimmer (191.75) and Katy Alexander (187.90) came in second and third.  In men's one-meter diving, Peter Inirio and Derrick Eyerman came in second and third with scores of 152.85 and 97.80, respectively.

Haney would win his second event of the day in the 200 breast (2:03.80) and Petersen followed suit in the women's 200 breast with a win in the time of 2:40.70. 

Virginia Cobb (5:45.70) won the 500 free for the women while Bryon Scholl and Catholic's Peter Bajorek tied with times of 56.57 in the 100 butterfly. 

Petersen won her third event in the 200 IM, finishing first in a time of 2:26.41. 

Marywood's men's (3:18.85) and women's (3:59.08) 400 yard freestyle relay teams closed the meet on a positive note for the Pacers with wins. 

Marywood returns to action next Saturday when they host Drew University.
