Scranton, PA - Rookie Jeremy Ringland hit a three just 24 seconds into the game and Marywood University never trailed in their season opener as the Pacers downed visiting Penn State Wilkes-Barre 71-58 in men's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Insalaco Arena.  The Pacers (1-0) had three players in double figures, led by 12 from Alex Barr.  Barr added a game-high four steals in his collegiate debut.

Yusef Savage and Shane Letthand each had 11 for the Pacers, who got point production from 10 of 11 players that played in the game.

Ringland's three opened the game and the Mountain Lions tied the game moments later with a trey of their own, but from there the Pacers took over and controlled tempo, never relinquishing the lead again.  Four minutes in Marywood led by six, and by the 13 minute mark, off a three from Letthand, the Pacers were up 10.

Penn State Wilkes-Barre would cut in the host's lead numerous times, getting to within three with under a minute to go, but each time the Mountain Lions got close, Marywood answered.  A layup from Savage put the Pacers up five at the break, 33-28.

Marywood led by as many as 13 several times throughout the second half, not allowing the visitors to get within six the rest of the way.

Three players had 15 points for the Mountain Lions, but the Pacers limited the other seven players to just 13 points total.

Marywood will host the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.
