Box Score Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Marywood University women's basketball struggled from the field in a 78-55 loss to Wilkes University Wednesday at the Marts Centers. It marks just the second time in eight years that the Pacers (1-2) lost to the Colonels.

Nora Joyce was the lone Pacer in double-digits with 15 points. Ashley Murray scored nine, and Lindsey Schroth contributed eight points amid foul trouble. Playing in front of a hometown crowd, Maddie Lavery pulled in a game-high seven boards.

Elena Stambone led the Colonels with 16 points. Chelsea Brown reached double figures with 10 points. Chelsea Stamos matched Lavery with seven rebounds.

After a teeter-totter first half, Wilkes pulled ahead in the waning minutes to head into halftime with a 37-33 lead. With the Pacers leading 29-26, Wilkes went on an 11-4 run in the final 4:30 to close the half. Marywood opened the second half with a cold shooting hand. Wilkes started the second half on a quick 10-0 run to put them up 14 with 15:51 remaining in the game. The Pacers went without a field goal for 5:27. A six-point run cut the deficit to eight; however, a quick Wilkes turnaround put the lead back to double digits. Marywood never came within 12 the rest of the way.

Marywood shot 32.3 percent (21 for 65) from the field, compared to Wilkes' 47.8 percent shooting affair. The Pacers hit just a quarter of their shots in the second half after coming in just under 40 percent in the first 20 minutes. Marywood committed 27 turnovers.
