Selinsgrove, PA – Marywood University women's basketball failed to ace its first test following its Finals Week hiatus in a 71-42 loss at Susquehanna University Monday at the O.W. Houts Gymnasium. Marywood falls to 3-4 overall in its second straight loss, while the Crusaders advance their record to 6-3 overall.

Maggie Presnal registered a season-high 15 points – her most since the 2012-13 campaign – on 6-for-11 shooting. Nora Joyce (West Scranton) and Danielle Terranella (Mid Valley) both provided eight points apiece.

Four players garnered a team-high five rebounds. Terranella, Presnal, Alexa Gerchman (Dunmore) and Joyce each were halfway to double digits.

The Pacers had no answer for the Crusaders' Jonaida Williams and her 29 points. Williams went 9-for-14 and hit all eight free throws in 30 minutes. She was the lone player in double figures for Susquehanna.

Susquehanna shot 48.1 percent from the field, holding Marywood to a 27 percent mark from the field defensively. For the second straight game, Marywood was ice-cold from 3-point range, missing all 18 shots.

The Crusaders held a 42-37 advantage off the glass and posted seven blocks.

After Susquehanna scored the opening six points, Marywood responded with a run of its own and eventually tied the game at 11 apiece. From there, the teams traded the lead until 17-17 when four straight points from Williams gave the Crusaders a 21-17 advantage.

Layups from the Pacers closed the gap with just over four minutes remaining in the half, but that was as close as the visitors would come for the remainder of the game. Susquehanna held a 12-point lead at the break.

Following the Pacers' first bucket of the second half at the 17:37 mark, the Crusaders held a 43-25 lead.

Marywood travels to Northeast Pennsylvania rival Misericordia University Saturday at 1:00 pm.
