Pacers Break Out in 73-41 Win over Rosemont

Scranton, PA - Marywood University scored 14 of the game's first 16 points to topple Rosemont College 73-41 Wednesday in the Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball opener. The Pacers shot 54.7 percent from the field while holding the Ravens to just 23 percent shooting on the night.

Danielle Terranella led the Pacers with 18 points, six rebounds and three steals. Terranella accumulated all 18 points and hit all nine attempted shots in the first half. It marks a season high point total for the Pacers.

Tara Steakin finished with 16 points and connected on four 3-pointers. Ashley Murray also reached double figures with 10 points. 

Marywood advances to 3-2 overall with a 1-0 CSAC record. Rosemont falls to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play. 

Marywood outrebounded the Ravens 45-34. The Pacers defense forced the Ravens to just four assists. Marywood hit nine 3-pointers and shot 50 percent from beyond the arc. Rosemont missed all 12 of its 3-point attempts. 

Turnovers and free-throw shooting continued to be a problem for the Pacers. Marywood committed 27 turnovers and shot 54.5 percent from the charity stripe. 

The Pacers defense posed problems for DIII News Preseason All-American Liz Coyne. Coyne went 2 for 13 and finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Jasmyn Parker matched Coyne with 10 points. Dominique Sellers had a game-high seven rebounds. 

After Parker evened the game at two apiece, Marywood went on a 12-point run over the course of nearly three minutes. Three consecutive layups by Terranella put the Pacers on top 14-2 just over five minutes into the game. Rosemont cut it to five at 9:34 when Coyne hit a free throw. Back-to-back threes from Tara Steakin and Catie Nealon changed the momentum in the Pacers' favor. Marywood outscored the Ravens by an 18-3 margin over the final 6:30 to enter the break with a 40-17 lead. 

Marywood looks to stay on track Saturday when it travels to Immaculata University Saturday at 1:00 pm. The Pacers close out their 2014 home schedule and will not return to Insalaco Arena until Jan. 3.
