Langhorne, PA - Freshman guard Connor Callejas hit a three-pointer with just eight seconds left and host Cairn could not find the equalizer as Marywood picked up a 65-62 road win against the Highlanders Saturday afternoon in CSAC men's basketball action.  Marywood (5-1, 2-1 CSAC) got double-digit performances from Michael Rottell (15) and Shane Letthand (13) in the win.  Cairn fell to 0-7, 0-3 CSAC with the loss.

A back and forth affair throughout, Marywood had an 11 point lead (31-21) with 5:24 to go in the first half, but Cairn would cut the Pacers' lead to just seven at the break, 38-31.

Cairn would then hold the Pacers scoreless over the opening 7:18 of the second half to tie the game at 38-38, before a pair of Rottell free throws ended the Pacers' scoreless drought and gave Marywood a 40-38 lead at the 12:42 mark.

Marywood would hold their slight lead until 9:42 when Cairn went on top 47-45 on an Aaron Stovall layup.  The Highlanders were up eight, 56-48, with 6:20 to go, but bookend free throws from Shane Kellaher and Cameron Dean and a scoreless drought from Cairn over the next 2:14 allowed Marywood to climb back to within three (56-53).

After the two teams traded three pointers and layups to make it 61-58, a 4-0 spurt gave the Pacers a 62-61 lead with one minute remaining.

Cairn tied the game with a free throw with :39 remaining, but left too much time on the clock for Callejas' heroics with under 10 to go.  A desparation three from the Highlanders with time expiring failed.

Marywood returns to action December 16 at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York.
