Gwynedd Valley, PA - Matthew Clark had a team-high 16 points to lead four Marywood players in double figures but it was not enough as the visiting Pacers fell to Gwynedd Mercy University 78-67 Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball action.  The host Griffins improved to 14-5 (10-2 CSAC) with the win while Marywood fell to 7-12 (3-9 CSAC) with the loss.

Down 16-13 in the first half, Shane Letthand tied the game for Marywood on a three and the Pacers would eventually go up five, 21-16, on a layup from Shane Kellaher.  Marywood would hold a lead until there was 1:36 to go in the opening half when a Gwynedd three gave the hosts a 31-29 lead.

Trailing 33-29 at the break, the Pacers opened the second half on a 5-0 run to take a 34-33 lead, but that would be the last time the visitors led.  Gwynedd quickly responded with a layup to reclaim the lead, and despite the Pacers tying the game at 39-39, the Griffins would extend their lead with strong inside play and sharp shooting from three-point range.  Despite not building a double-digit lead until there was less than four minutes remaining, Gwnynedd controlled play and kept the Pacers at bay for much of the second half.

Ryan Corrigan had 14 for Marywood while Matt Tintle had 10 and Letthand finished with 13.  Darnell Artis led all scorers with a game-high 19 points for Gwynedd.

Marywood returns to action Wednesday when they host Neumann University at 7:00 pm in the Insalaco Arena.
