First, Second Half Runs Lift Pacers Past Cairn

Scranton, PA - Marywood University used a pair of 10-0 runs, one in the middle of the first half and the other in the middle to the second half, to snap a three-game losing streak with a 79-70 win over visiting Cairn University Wednesday evening.  Ryan Corrigan led four Marywood players in double figures with a game-high 19 points as the Pacers improved to 8-14, 4-11 CSAC. 

Marywood built an early 22-12 lead over the first 12 minutes of the opening half, but the Highlanders (2-21, 2-14 CSAC) battled back with a 10-4 run to make it 26-22 with 3:58 to go.  From there, the Pacers got a 10-0 run over 1:40 to take a 36-22 lead and would carry a 41-28 lead into the break.

Marywood's Ryan Corrigan and Shane Kellaher each had 12 at the break as the Pacers shot 50% from the floor and 40% from three-point range.

Cairn chipped away at the Pacers' lead to start the second, using a 9-3 run to make it 44-37 with 15:30 to go.  Another 10-0 run from Marywood would stretch the host's lead to 17 (54-37) with 12 minutes left.

After being held scoreless for the opening 10 minutes of the second half, Corrigan went on a personal 7-0 run to make it 63-43 in favor of Marywood with 8:20 remaining.

Cairn used the long ball to keep the game respectable, but could not get back to within nine the rest of the way.

Shane Letthand finished with 16 for Marywood while Kellaher had 14 and Jonathan Velazquez added 11.  Marywood shot 49% from the floor for the game. 

Cairn was led by Darnell Clowney and Reuben Lacy, who each had 18.

The Pacers return to action Saturday when they host Immaculata University at 2:00 pm in the Insalaco Arena.
