Scranton, PA - Marywood University's Ryan Corrigan scored a game-high 31 points, one-shy of his career best, and the Pacers held off visiting Immaculata University for an important 71-68 win Saturday evening in Scranton.  Originally scheduled to start at 1:00 pm, the game was delayed to a 6:30 pm start due to bus problems for the Mighty Macs.  The game was again delayed after a power failure during halftime at the Insalaco Arena.

Marywood (9-14, 5-11 CSAC) trailed 5-0 early, but the Pacers used a 10-0 run that extended into a 16-2 run to take a 16-7 lead.  Immaculata (10-12, 8-7) responded with a 15-5 tear of their own, taking a 22-21 lead with 7:30 to go in the opening frame.  The two teams would then trade 5-0 runs before the Pacers used a 14-5 spurt that included a Corrigan jumper at the buzzer to take a 40-32 lead into half.

The Pacers were hot in the opening stanza, going 6 of 10 from long range and 50% overall from the floor.  Immaculata shot 59% from the floor.

Marywood led by as many as 13 (46-33) just over 2:30 into the second half, and Immaculata got to within five (46-41) before Marywood went back up 10 on a jumper from Shane Letthand. Trailing by 10 with 10:06 to go, Immaculata slowly chipped away at the host's lead.  At the 7:05 mark, a pair of free throws from Carl Garner cut the Pacers' lead to three (60-57).

To the Pacers' credit, Marywood would not let Immaculata reclaim the lead.  Every time Immaculata came close, Marywood answered, despite hitting just 10 of 16 freebies in the second half.  Up two (68-66), a key drive from Letthand drew an and-one in the lane.  Despite missing the free throw, Marywood was up two possessions again (70-66).

With a two-point lead (70-68), Corrigan nailed one of two from the line and Immaculata missed two attempts at a game-tying three as time expired.

Corrigan's 31 is a season high for the Pacers.  His career best of 32 came in a 79-73 win over Rosemont on January 19, 2013.  Letthand finished with 14 for Marywood while Matthew Clark had 10.  Mamadou Diakite (18 points) and Rodney Duncan (17) combined for 35 of Immaculata's points.

Marywood returns to action Monday with a trip to nearby Keystone College in hopes of keeping their CSAC playoff chances alive.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm in LaPlume.
