Scranton, PA – Sarah Caughy scored the game-winning goal with 1.7 seconds remaining to give Marywood University its first women's lacrosse victory of the season, defeating Lycoming College 14-13 at Pacers Turf Field. The win gives first-year head coach Katie Tutak her first career victory.

Caughy broke the school record with her 43rd career assist. Caughy had been tied with Diana D'Achille in the record books and went without an assist for the first four games of the season. She broke the record when she tailored a pass to Michelle Thompson to give the Pacers a 12-8 lead in the second half.

Caughy led the Pacers with five goals and an assist for a season-high six points. She went 3-for-4 on free-position shots.

Kimberly Commisso scored four goals and had four draw controls. Kathy DiGiacomo had two goals and an assist, and Dana Grossjung netted her first goal of the season in a two-point effort.

Lauren Smith picked up her first career victory, making nine saves in net.

Defensively, Samantha Akshar picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers. Mary Ninivaggi added three ground balls.

Both Thompson and Grossjung lassoed in three key draw controls for the Pacers.

Marywood rebounded after the Warriors stormed back in the second half to erase a 12-8 disadvantage with four straight goals. Lycoming's Kari Ryback hit two consecutive free-position shots to tie the game at 12 apiece with four minutes remaining.

Fifty seconds later, Stacy Griffing connected on a free-position shot of her own. Ashley Cavallier grabbed the draw control to set up the Griffing score to make it 13-12.

Goalless through the season, Rybak tallied her third goal in the final seven minutes to take a 13-13 lead with 45 seconds remaining.

Caughy barreled to get the draw control passed it to Griffing, whose shot was saved by Nicole Gerling. Grossjung picked up the loose ball and received a free-position shot with eight seconds left. Grossjung's shot careened off the post, and Caughy was fouled on the restart. Caughy's first FPS chance that was saved was called off due to an infraction, and she bounced it in the net on her second try to send the Pacer bench into a frenzy.

Lycoming outshot the Pacers by a 27-24 margin. Marywood held a 17-15 advantage in ground balls. Despite winning only four of the 15 draw controls in the first period, the Pacers tied the Warriors 15-15 for the game.

Marywood opened the game with a three-goal advantage thanks to a Commisso score from Grossjung and two unassisted Caughy points. Lycoming stormed back with three straight of its own to tie it at 18:10. The Warriors took a 6-5 lead on a Maureen Heagy score with 4:25 left, but Caughy responded 25 seconds later to tie the game. Lycoming's Amber Graybill reinstated the lead before Commisso tied it at 7-7 going into the break.

The Pacers never trailed in the second half and kept the Warriors scoreless during a four-goal run that consisted of two DiGiacomo goals.

Rybak led the Warriors with three goals and an assist. Casey Maguire was the team's top point scorer with a goal and four assists.
