Pacers Open CSAC Slate with Sweep of Cedar Crest

Allentown, PA - Marywood University smashed out 31 hits and allowed just 12 in two games as the Pacers swept host Cedar Crest College for a strong start to their 2014 Colonial States Athletic Conference slate Sunday afternoon in Allentown.  Marywood won game one 11-0 in five innings and topped the Falcons 15-2 in five innings in the nightcap. The Pacers improved to 3-5 overall and 2-0 in CSAC play while the Falcons remain winless on the year at 0-12, 0-4 CSAC.

In the opener, Diana Butash was 3-for-4 with three runs scored while Brook Labs was 4-for-4 with four RBI as the Pacers crused to the win.  Marywood scored at least two runs in every inning, adding three in the third for the 11-0 win.  Lindsey Gibbs (2-1) got the win on the mound after allowing just four hits while striking out five in the complete-game shutout. 

In the nightcap, Butash again picked up three hits, going 3-for-5 with six RBI and two runs scored.  Labs added a 3-for-4 game from the plate while both had doubles.  Mariah Runco added two RBI for the Pacers in the 15-2 win.  Alyssa Bavaro (1-3) got her first win of the year on the mound with a complete-game effort, fanning one while allowing two runs on eight hits over five innings.

The Pacers return to action Friday with a non-conference doubleheader at Valley Forge.
