Crusaders Throttle Past Women's Lacrosse

Selinsgrove, PA – The Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team scored seven goals in the first five minutes of its game against Marywood University, eventually going on to defeat the Pacers 20-2 Wednesday in a midweek, non-conference matchup. The loss ends Marywood's two-game winning streak. 

Susquehanna out-shot Marywood (3-6) by a 36-16 margin with 30 shots in the first half alone. The Crusaders also forced 25 Marywood turnovers and won 13 draw controls to the Pacers' 11.

Over the remaining 10 minutes of the first half, Susquehanna added six more goals from four different players for a 16-0 lead. Marywood scored its first goal of the game when Michelle Thompson scored with 27 seconds to play in the half to make it 16-1.

Dana Grossjung scored the other goal for the Pacers with 3:57 remaining. 

Kathy DiGiacomo led the Pacers with five ground balls. Lauren Smith made nine saves.

Marywood returns to action when it travels to Neumann University on Saturday in a CSAC matchup.
