McDaniel Gets Past Men's Lacrosse, 9-6

Scranton, PA – McDaniel College went on a five-goal run in the first half wiped out an early Pacer lead in a 9-6 victory over Marywood University Saturday in men's lacrosse action. The Pacers had the first-two goals of the game and were not able to even the score following the Green Terror onslaught.
 
Ryan Nowell had the second multi-goal outing of his career. Nowell led the Pacers with two goals, his first since scoring two against Gwynedd Mercy on April 6, 2012.
 
Joe Magargal stopped a career-best 19 shots in a losing effort. Magargal added three ground balls to his total.
 
Michael Squillante won five ground balls. Jarrod Bulger and Skyler Swope each added four ground balls.
 
Dylan Swope and Brandon Terlizzi botch recorded two-point games with a goal and an assist apiece.
 
Marywood (2-3) went on the board early with unassisted goals by Nowell and Terlizzi to lead 2-0 through the first six minutes of the game.
 
The Green Terror (2-3) tallied their first from Sean Brett at the 4:42 mark in the opening stanza.  Troy Becker supplied the game-tying goal 78 seconds later. The McDaniel run carried into the second, and a pair of Patrick Serio goals made it a 5-2 Green Terror lead.
 
Dylan Swope ended the drive 19 seconds after Serio's second. Trill put the Pacers within one from a Cody Bachman pass less than a minute later.
 
McDaniel netted the only remaining goal of the half to retain its two-goal advantage on a Ryan Weiss shot with 6:13 left.
 
The Green Terror scored the first two of the second half to extend the lead to 8-4. Slater added a man-up goal at 4:47 in the third.
 
Both teams spent the next 16 minutes, 39 seconds without a goal. The Pacers had a two-minute man-up advantage that was ended on a ground ball from Timothy McNichol 90 seconds into the fourth. Nowell finally found the net at 3:08 to put the Pacers within two (8-6) with 3:08 remaining. Just 58 seconds later, Zach Monzo found a Serio pass and put it into goal to add the well-needed insurance goal for the Green Terror.
 
Marywood was outshot 40-21 by McDaniel. The Green Terror held a 44-28 advantage in ground balls and won two-third (12-6) of the draw controls. Marywood went 12-of-16 on clears, and the Green Terror were unsuccessful on just two of its clear attempts.
 
Marywood travels across town to face The University of Scranton Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
