Scranton, PA - Playing in a rain that came down heavier as the game progressed, Marywood University's Billy Kelly struck out eight batters and allowed just one hit over five innings of work as the Pacers beat Valley Forge Christian College 13-0 in non-conference baseball action Friday afternoon.  The game was called after four and a half innings of play due to the rain, and game two of the schedule doubleheader was canceled.

Marywood scored five runs in the first and six runs in the second to put the game out of reach early.  The Pacers loaded the bases against Patriot starter James Comenzo on two walks and a hit batter, then lit up reliever Jared Boothman for 10 runs on 14 hits. Comenzo was responsible for the game's first three runs.

Kelly (1-2) fanned eight while allowing just one hit, a double to Comenzo in the fourth, over five innings of work.

Mike Diskin was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored while Tommy Smith was 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs scored.  Matt Staback also had three RBI and was 2-for-3 with a double.

Marywood (7-6) returns to action Sunday with a trip to Langhorne to make up a CSAC doubleheader with Cairn University.  Game one starts at 1:00 pm.
