Aston, PA - Marywood University held on for a 7-5 win in the opening game of their CSAC twinbill with Neumann University but fell to the Knights 11-3 in the nightcap.  The Pacers built a 7-0 lead in game one before holding on for the win, and fell in six innings to the Knights in game two.  Marywood is now 9-7 overall and 8-2 in CSAC play while Neumann stands at 15-6 (11-2).

In the opener, Marywood built a 7-0 lead through six innings of play, but the Knights rallied for five runs in the bottom of the 7th to make the game interesting.  The Pacers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a RBI groundout by Chelsea Zimmerman that scored Samantha Rayhon

Marywood made it 3-0 in the top of the third wtih a two-run single from Stephanie Bagniewski, and added four more in the sixth thanks to RBIs from Diana Butash, Stephanie Recanati, Mariah Runco and Brooke Labs.  But the Knights would not go quietly, and made the game interesting with a five-run 7th. 

Lindsey Gibbs (5-2) got the win in the opener, going six innings and allowing five runs on 12 hits.  Emily Perruso picked up her first save of the year by getting the final three outs of the game. 

In the nightcap, Neumann pounded out 16 hits for the 11-3 win.  The Knights scored in each inning, handing Alyssa Bavaro her fourth lost of the year (3-4).  Marywood got a run in the first off a sacrifice fly from Labs that scored Butash, and got two more in the third two-run double from Bagniewski. 

Perruso pitched 2.2 innings in the nightcap as well.  Recanati finished the nightcap 2-for-3. 

Marywood is scheduled to host Cabrini College in another important CSAC doubleheader Saturday at 3:00 pm, weather depending.
