Scranton, PA - Marywood University pounded out 32 hits and scored 26 runs over two games as the Pacers swept visiting Cabrini College in a big CSAC softball doubleheader Saturday afternoon.  Marywood scored 14 runs in the first inning of game one en route to a 16-2 win in 4 1/2 innings and scored seven runs in the fourth inning of game to to complete a 10-2 win in six innings.  The Pacers now stand at 10-2 in the CSAC and 11-7 overall and have won 10 of 12 since returning from Florida.  Cabrini fell to 12-13 (9-5 CSAC) with the losses.

In the opener, an error on a hard hit ball to second base opened the flood gates, as Marywood batted around and scored 14 runs on 12 hits in their opening at-bat.  The rest of the game was even, with the Pacers scoring just once more in the second and fourth while Cabrini got their two runs in the top of the fifth.

Lindsey Gibbs (6-2) won the opener, throwing a complete game and allowing two runs on four hits while striking out eight.  Mariah Runco, Brooke Labs and Chelsea Zimmerman all had three RBI.  Runco and Stephanie Bagniewski each had two doubles.

In a closer nightcap, it took four innings before Pacers broke the game open.  Marywood led 2-1 after three and a half, and scored seven in the bottom of the fourth to put the game out of reach.  Alyssa Bavaro (4-4) got the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits.

Sarah Recanati was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double.  Diana Butash and Labs also had doubles.

On Monday, Coach Fitzsimmons will go for career win 200 versus Baptist Bible College at 3:00 pm.  The Pacers host the Defenders in a CSAC twinbill.  Interestingly, Coach Higley from BBC also stands at 199 career wins and can get his 200th career win Monday against the Pacers.
