Women's Lacrosse Finishes Regular Season with 15-5 Win

Gwynedd Valley, PA - Marywood University scored eight of the first nine goals to wrap its regular season with a 15-5 victory over Gwynedd Mercy University Thursday in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action. The Pacers (8-8, 6-2 CSAC) are locked into the third seed, while the rest of the conference concludes their season. 

Kimberly Commisso scored five goals to lead the Pacers. Commisso added seven draw controls, four caused turnovers and three ground balls. As of April 13, she led the entire NCAA in active career ground balls. 

Sarah Caughy boistered her team lead in goals scored with four on five shots. Emily Osborne contributed three assists. 

Kathy DiGiacomo provided two goals and two assists. DiGiacomo stands at 51 career assists, three more than Caughy's 48, to hold the school record. 

Stacy Griffing manufactured two goals and an assist. Michelle Thompson scored a goal and an assist for two points. 

Ashley Cavellier won three ground balls. Mary Ninivaggi caused three turnovers. 

Lauren Smith went the distance with 11 saves in goal. 

Marywood scored four straight goals in the opening 10 minutes and five seconds. Griffing started things off with a goal at 27:47. Commisso added a pair at 25:53 and 20:09 to go on top by three. Fourteen seconds after Commisso's second tally, Caughy caught an Osborne pass and scored again. 

After Gwynedd Mercy's Kelsey Yori scored unassisted for the Griffins (6-9, 3-4 CSAC), Marywood rattled four more consecutive goals. Commisso capped things off with her third of the game to go ahead 8-1. 

With the Pacers ahead 10-3 at break, Natalie Burke scored from her partner in crime Osborne to start the second half. DiGiacomo set the clocks in motion at 14:14 with a 13-3 Pacers' advantage. 

Marywood will host a first round CSAC playoff game on Saturday, April 26 against an opponent to be determined.
