Men's Lacrosse Drives Past Knights for 15-9 Win

Scranton, PA – Marywood University scored 12 consecutive goals to avert early struggles to down Neumann University 15-9 Wednesday in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's lacrosse. The Pacers win their second CSAC game in as many changes and move to 5-6 overall on the season.

Marywood trailed by three goals (4-1) following the first quarter. It held the Knights scoreless for 25:27, building a 13-4 lead in the process.

Riley Dobel led the Pacers with five goals and two assists for seven points. Brandon Terlizzi added three scores.

Dylan Swope inched toward the career assists record with two assists in addition to two goals and five ground balls. Swope is three helpers shy of Nick Parks' record of 60 assists from 2008-11.

Ryan Nowell contributed with two goals and an assist. Stephen Deiner had a two-point effort with a goal and an assist.
Sam Trill tallied three assists.

Michael Squillante was phenomenal at the faceoff circle, winning three-fourths (18 of 24) of his faceoff chances. Squillante also picked up seven ground balls. Terlizzi and Deiner each picked up four ground balls.

Joe Magargal stopped 12 shots for the Pacers in a winning effort. Daghan Hart made five saves, and Brian White came in to make two stops.

Marywood came out cold in the first quarter, despite winning all six faceoffs. Four of Neumann's 10 shots went into net. The Knights' Ryan Eber scored first, and Dobel matched him with a goal at 8:28. After Ryan O'Kane and Chris Scott found a dink in the Pacers' armor, Eber capped the period with a goal at the minute mark to give the Knights a 4-1 lead.

The Pacers showed promise early in the second. Nowell scored eight seconds into the period off a Squillante faceoff win and subsequent assist. Nowell added another goal at 13:49 from Trill that put the Pacers within one goal.

With 10 minutes left in the half, Slater evened things up from a Dobel feed. Just 12 seconds went by before Marywood took its first lead of the game on an unassisted Swope score. Dobel's goal with 40 seconds left (11-4) capped the period with a 9-0 Marywood scoring advantage.

Dobel opened the second half with his fourth consecutive goal to make it a 12-4 Marywood lead.

Skyler Swope scored his first career collegiate goal at 7:50 in the third from Michael Suarez's first assist of the season.

Marywood was efficient on 90 percent (18 of 20) of its clear attempts. The Pacers outshot the Knights 49-41 and held a 36-28 advantage in ground balls.

Eber had five goals and an assist for the Knights. Neumann goalkeeper Alex Becker made 22 saves.

The Pacers stay home to face No. 3 Cabrini College Saturday at 1:00 pm.
