Scranton, PA - Marywood University dominated the opening game against visiting Keystone College for a 16-8 win but the Pacers had to hold off the Giants 6-5 in the nightcap to pick up a pair of CSAC wins Friday afternoon in softball action. Marywood improved to 19-9 overall and 17-3 in league play while the visitors fell to 11-21 (8-12 CSAC).

The Pacers looked to be in cruise control in the opener, building a 11-0 lead through the first three innings of play.  Sarah Recanati had two triples and four RBI through those first three frames to lead the Pacers.  The Giants would not go quietly though, and scored seven runs in the top of the fourth, including four on a grand slam from Karissa Worobey,  to make the game interesting again.  Marywood settled down and tacked on five runs over the next three innings to complete the six-inning win.

Lindsey Gibbs (9-3) got the win, allowing three earned runs and striking out eight over six innings of work.  Worobey took the loss, allowing 10 runs (seven earned) on 12 hits.

Marywood's one through three hitters of Diana Butash, Recanati and Mariah Runco went a combined 8-for-12 with nine RBI and nine runs scored.

In the nightcap, the Giants held a 4-1 lead until Marywood got a four-run fifth to take a 5-4 lead.  The Pacers got an insurance run in the sixth the proved to be necessary as Keystone managed one run in the top of the seventh but could not find the tying run.

Alyssa Bavaro (7-5) got the win, striking out four while allowing three earned runs on nine Keystone hits.  Brooke Labs was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI while Runco picked up two doubles.

Marywood travels to Gwynedd Mercy tomorrow in their final CSAC regular season match of the season.
