Scranton, PA – Cabrini College jumped out to score five goals in the first eight minutes en route to a 14-6 victory over Marywood University Saturday in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's lacrosse. The Pacers managed to cut the lead to three before the Cavaliers went on a four-point run.

Kimberly Commisso scored a hat trick. Commisso was successful on each of her three shots and led the game with 10 draw controls.

Stacy Griffing, Dana Grossjung and Sarah Caughy each added a goal for the Pacers. Mary Ninivaggi had a game-high five ground balls. Grossjung caused three turnovers, and Ashley Cavellier totaled four ground balls.

The Pacers (4-8, 3-2 CSAC) struggled from the free-position shot, going 4-for-15 from the 8 meter line.

Leigha Dolcemascolo and Lauren Smith split time in net. Dolcemascolo made two saves, and Smith racked 10 saves in 51:41.

Fresh off her first goal of the season, Amanda Khozouri vacuumed three ground balls on defense.

Cabrini needed less than 90 seconds to get on the scoreboard. Allie Vallen hit a free-position shot at the 28:34 mark to start the Cavaliers' biggest run.

After falling behind five goals, Commisso scored the Pacers' first goal on a free-position attempt with 16:56 left in the first period. Forty-eight seconds went by before Commisso put another free-position shot past the goalkeeper to slim the deficit to three.

Nearly 26 minutes elapsed until Marywood added another to the scoreboard. In the meantime, Cabrini (7-2, 5-0 CSAC) more than doubled its lead to 9-2 on four straight goals. Caughy scored at 20:12 in the second period to end the scoring drought. Grossjung put the Pacers back in content with an unassisted baseline goal to trim Cabrini's lead to 9-4.

Cabrini added two within a 1:06 span to extend its lead back to seven goals.

Marywood held a 25-24 advantage in ground balls, despite being outshot 35-23 for the game. With the help of Commisso, the Pacers won 13 of 23 draw control attempts.  Marywood went 12-of-22 on clear attempts, while the Cavaliers cleared it on 12 of 16 tries.

Cabrini's Melissa Scanzano led the game with five goals and an assist for six points.

Marywood honored its six seniors – Kelly Kryspin, Cavellier, Dolcemascolo, Caughy, Commisso, Kathy DiGiacomo – with a ceremony prior to the game.

The Pacers travel to Cedar Crest College Tuesday at 4:00 pm. They will visit Notre Dame of Maryland University next Saturday.
