Scranton, PA - Marywood's baseball team went to extra innings for the second game in a row, but this time the results were not as favorable as Sunday's win as the Pacers fell to Penn State Brandywine 3-2 in 10 innings.  Marywood allowed just four hits in the game, but an unearned run from a throwing error in the top of the 10th doomed the Pacers.  Marywood fell to 5-6 on the year while the Lions improved to 10-9.

Playing in their first home game of 2014 after weeks of postponed games, Marywood's defense and pitching were sharp early despite giving up a single run in the top of the first.  The Pacers would grab a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth on a RBI groundout from Daniel Hull and a RBI double to center from Mike Diskin.  That lead would be short lived, however, as the Pacers gave up the tying run the next inning.

After three more scoreless innings of play, Brandywine got the winning run on what was going to be an attempted sacrifice bunt to move runners to second and third.  A throwing error on the play resulted in the baserunners advancing two bases, including John McGarvey who scored from second with the eventual game-winning run.

Justin Perez was strong on the mound for the Pacers over the opening seven innings.  Perez allowed two runs on four hits while fanning four.  Hull pitched the final three innings without allowing a hit and striking out three.

Offensively, Diskin was 3-for-5 with an RBI while Tommy Smith was 2-for-4.

Marywood returns to action tomorrow when they host Cairn University at 3:00 pm in a CSAC game.
