Scranton, PA - Marywood University freshman hurler Lindsey Gibbs struck out 22 batters over two games to lead the Pacers to a pair of wins and a shot at the 2014 Colonial States Athletic Conference Softball Championship.  Marywood (23-11) beat Cabrini 1-0 and Neumann 4-2 to advance to Saturday's title game.  The Pacers will have two chances to win the CSAC title and a automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament, the first of which will come at 12:00 noon Saturday.

Gibbs (12-4) fanned 11 batters in each game.  In the opener against #4 Cabrini, Marywood got an unearned run in the fourth and that was the only run they would need.  Leading off the inning, Diana Butash tripled to right field and would score when the relay throw to third got loose and got away from the Cavalier's third baseman.

Mariah Runco went 2-for-3 in the opener. Both teams combined for just nine hits in the pitcher's duel.  Kiley Sharp lived up to her surname for the Cavaliers, allowing one unearned run and just six hits over six innings of work.  Gibbs allowed just three hits.

In the Pacers' second game of the day, Gibbs was again strong, allowing one earned run on five hits in the win.  Both teams got their first two runners on to start their respective first innings only to see the next three batters retired for a scoreless first.

In the bottom of the second inning, Stephanie Bagniewski doubled to left field to start things off for the Pacers.  Later in the inning with runners on second and third with two outs, Bagniewski would score on a wild pitch to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

The Pacers tacked on three runs in the third.  Chelsea Epler's picked up an RBI and Marywood scored two unearned runs as the result of Neumann errors to go up 4-0.

The Knights got one back in the fourth and one more in the seventh to make it 4-2, but Gibbs stepped up big against Danielle Greyson to end the game. Greyson, who hit pair of homers in the Knights' opening game against Immaculata, was up at the plate with two outs and two runners on.  Gibbs got Greyson swinging to end the game and Neumann's comeback attempt.

Should the Pacers drop the noon game Saturday, they will still have one more chance to win the title in a 2:00 pm winner take all game.  Neumann, the second seed in the tournament, will face #4 Cabrini College Saturday morning at 10:00 am in an elimination game.  The Knights won their opener Friday 14-0 over #3 Immaculata in four and a half innings.  Cabrini then battled back to avoid elimination with a 5-4 win over Immaculata in eight innings.
