Scranton, PA - Wilkes University used three second half goals -- in a seven-minute span -- to stump Marywood University 4-1 Sunday in non-conference men's soccer. Marywood receives its first loss of the 2014 campaign, while Wilkes gets its first win of the young season.

Kris Kassel scored the lone Pacer goal on a penalty kick opportunity in the 39th minute to even the game at 1-1. Jamie Mangini earned the PK chance when he was fouled inside the box by goalkeeper Patrick Loube.

Eric McAnena scored two goals and an assist for the Colonels, lending a leg on each second half score. With the game knotted at 1 through the first half, McAnena posted the game-winning goal on a rebound off goalkeeper Justin Sunseri in the 49th minute. Eddie Metzger came on the right side with a strike from right side that was saved by Sunseri. McAnena stood waiting on the weak side goal line and tapped it into net for a 2-1 lead.

Three minutes later, Wilkes put together one for the highlight reel to add its third. This time, McAnenas volleyed a 30 yard pass from the left side. Metzger was waiting at the backdoor and, airborn, one-touched it into net leaving Sunseri no chance to save face.

In the 56th minute, Marywood was charged with a red card for a denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity with a hard-line tackle in the box. McAnena's penalty shot was initially saved by Sunseri; however, McAnena followed up by gathering the rebound and stapling it into the net.

Wilkes' Mitchell Woodward used his left leg to redirect a 25-yard Justin Weaver pass into the net for the Colonels' first goal in the 35th minute.

Sunseri finished with a game-high 10 saves. His counterpart Loube made nine saves in 76 minutes.

Despite the loss, Marywood outshot the Colonels by a 23-19 margin and held on to a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. Wilkes had a 14-10 advantage in shots on goal.

Marywood hosts Muhlenberg College next Saturday at 4:00 pm in a rematch of last season's ECAC playoff game. The Mules prevailed 2-0 to advance in the South Region tournament.
