Scranton Keeps Marywood Winless with Shutout Victory

Scranton, PA - The University of Scranton scored three first half goals and added one in the second half to blank host Marywood University 4-0 in non-conference women's soccer action Thursday evening in Scranton.  The Royals got goals from four different players and evened their record at 3-3 on the year while Marywood remains winless at 0-6.

After a scoreless 15 minutes of play, Kelsey Bacon took a cross from Carolyn Warner in front of the goal and put the ball home for a 1-0 Scranton lead.  Nearly 10 minutes later the Royals doubled their lead when Ellen Walker scored unassisted on a direct kick from 36 yards out.  Walkers shot found the near post before richocheting to the far post netting.

In the 33rd minute, Sarah Andrews scored unassisted off a rebound to put Scranton up 3-0.

Gianna Vitola closed the scoring in the 53rd minute when Walker fed her in front of an open goal after Walker stole the ball off a Marywood goal kick.

Scranton had a 17-2 advantage in shots and had 12 corner kicks to none for the Pacers.

Marywood will open CSAC play Saturday when the host Gwynedd Mercy University at 1:00 pm.
