Scranton, PA - An early goal conceded again proved to be Marywood University's downfall as visiting Gwynedd Mercy University earned a 1-0 win over the Pacers in the CSAC opener for both schools in women's soccer action.  Depite out-shooting the Griffins 16-6 on the afternoon, a GMU goal from Theo Horozoglou in the 10th minute provided the difference.

Marywood controlled the tempo early with several early shots but the Griffins got on the board first.  A deep throw in from Megan Gifford bounced over several players befor finding Horozoglou's foot and then the back of the net.  The goal at 9:14 was the only scoring on the day.

Marywood would later miss probably their best opportunity when the Pacers fired off three consecutive shots.  One was stopped by Griffins' keeper Jess Tadley, while Brianna Bruster's strike hit the crossbar and Emily Kotcho's shot sailed just high and right of the upper-90 netting.

Tadely made nine saves to earn the shutout.  Emily Osborne made three saves in the loss.

The Pacers (0-7, 0-1 CSAC) will return to action next Sunday when they host Notre Dame of Maryland University at 1:00 pm.
