Tennis Edges Immaculata in Key CSAC Match

Scranton, PA - Marywood University won two of three doubles matches and won two three-set matches in singles play to edge visiting Immaculata University 5-4 in a key CSAC match Saturday afternoon in women's tennis action.  Marywood moves to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in league play while Immaculata is now 5-2 and 3-1 in CSAC action.

In doubles, Marywood built a 2-1 lead thanks to wins from the top doubles team of Kristen Lambert and Megan Nastelli (8-3) and the #2 team of Rebecca Lukasak and Elspeth Peterson (8-4).  The Mighty Macs got their doubles point from the #3 team of Anna Kambouroglos and Pattie McGinley who defeated Natalie Burke and Devon Underwood in a tight 9-7 match.

In singles play, Lauren Degnan edged Nastelli in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 at #1 singles.  Emily Degnan beat Lambert 6-0, 6-2 at #2 singles, and Kambouroglos downed Burke 6-2, 6-4 at #5.  Melanie Kobela was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at #6 singles for the Pacers, and Marywood took home then win by claiming two tight matches at #3 and #4. 

At #3, Lukasak took down Nicole Burley 7-5, 4-6, 6-2.  At #4, Underwood won 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

Marywood will travel to nearby Keystone College Friday.
