Volleyball Rises Above .500 with Sweep of Wilkes, Cedar Crest

Scranton, PA – Marywood University won both matches of a tri-match with victories over Cedar Crest College and Wilkes University. The Pacers downed Cedar Crest in three sets before dispensing the Colonels in four sets in the final match. Marywood extends its winning streak to three games and move above .500 for the first time with a 5-4 overall record and 2-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
 
Marywood defeated the Falcons by scores of 25-9, 25-13, 25-15. Marywood managed just four errors against Cedar Crest and posted a .380 attack percentage for the match. Ashley Zalewski (10 kills) and Amy Kester (seven kills) did not have a single error.
 
The Pacers had 12 assists from Kelly Chadwick. Chadwick and Kester both accounted for eight digs as part of a 41-dig performance for the team as a whole.
 
Danielle DeIullio was lights out from the service position. She provided five service aces with just one error. Shayna Finn added seven digs.
 
In the final game of the tri-match, Marywood defeated Wilkes by scores of 25-21, 25-23, 15-25, 25-17. Both teams had similar attack percentage numbers (.178 to .169) and similar statistics across the board.
 
Kester led the Pacers with 11 kills, 11 digs and four total blocks. Kester had an attack percentage of .417 with just one error on 24 attempts. She was one of four players with double-digit digs, joining Mikayla Bristol (11) and Chadwick and Amanda Khozouri with 10 apiece.
 
Chadwick manufactured 18 assists. Zalewski and Bristol both had seven kills Catherine Anlas produced a season-high nine kills on 19 attempts.
 
Cedar Crest's Ericka Clayton had seven kills, and Rebecca Grady chipped in with 10 digs for the Falcons (1-12, 1-1 CSAC).
 
Wilkes (7-8) received a strong outing from Ally Paskas' 16 kills on 36 attempts. Libero Erin Nothstein garnered 22 digs.
 
Wilkes defeated Cedar Crest in four games in the second match of the tri-meet.
 
Marywood has back-to-back games this week when they travel down Washington Avenue to face The University of Scranton on Tuesday before hosting Rosemont College Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
