Chadwick Breaks Career Assists Record in Loss

Scranton, PA - Kelly Chadwick broke the career record for most assists in Marywood University volleyball program history Tuesday in a 3-0 loss at The University of Scranton. Chadwick came into the match tied with Alyssa Hartranft '13 with 1,765 assists. She added 10 assists to establish the record with 1,775 sets.

After winning the first set 25-20, the Royals overcame late deficits to win both the second and third sets, 27-25 and 25-22, respectively, to improve to 16-7 on the season. The loss dropped the Pacers to 5-5.

Scranton found itself trailing 24-20 in the second set and overcame deficits of 6-0 and 20-15 in the third to pull out the victory.

Ashley Zalewski had eight kills and no errors on 20 attacks. Amy Kester provided an outstanding effort with seven kills and nine digs. Kester posted five total blocks (one solo, four assists) to lead the Pacers' seven total blocks.

Danielle DeIulio registered 11 assists. Mikayla Bristol led the team with 10 digs. Amanda Khozouri also provided eight digs.

Scranton's Lizzy Zimmerman led the Royals with 14 kills and 10 digs-her third 'double-double' of the season-and Julia Crilly and Rachael Cisto combined for 21 kills.

Scranton, which hit .246 for the match, also received 36 assists and 11 digs from sophomore Brittany Cafiero and Morgan Rentzheimer had three service aces, four digs and three kills.

Marywood returns to the court to host Rosemont College Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the Insalaco Arena.
