Pacers Win Fifth Straight, Hold Off Ravens

Rosemont, PA - Danielle Terranella and Maggie Presnal both recorded double-doubles to lead Marywood University to its fifth consecutive victory Saturday in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball. The Pacers down the Ravens 62-53 to improve its record to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play. 

Terranella finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Presnal provided 15 points and 11 boards for her fourth double-double in the past five games. 

They led a group of four Pacers in double figures. Tara Steakin made five 3-pointers for 15 points, and Nora Joyce contributed 11. 

The Pacers improved drastically upon their free-throw shooting. Marywood went 16 for 20 from the charity stripe for 80 percent. 

For the second time this season, Marywood held All-American Liz Coyne in check. Coyne, averaging a double-double this year, was held to seven points and seven rebounds. The Pacers kept her to 10 points, five rebounds in their 71-43 victory over the Ravens on Dec. 3. 

Marywood started the game off on point. With the Ravens leading 4-2, the Pacers went on a nine-point run to take a 11-4 lead. Catie Nealon hit a 3-pointer with 10:23 left in the first half to extend the lead to double digits at 25-15. From then on, the Pacers closed out the rest of of the half on a 13-3 run. Maddie Lavery's layup in the paint gave the Pacers a 35-18 advantage going into halftime. 

Marywood opened the second with a field goal to extend the lead to 20; however, Rosemont roared back with a 14-3 to cut it to single digits via a Coyne jump shot with 13:27 left. Still, Marywood held a comfortable lead until a 12-3 run pitted the Ravens within seven points with 2:37 remaining. Presnal closed out the game by making all six of her free throws to secure the victory. 

Rosemont was led by three players in double figures. Kierra Smith scored 12 points. Dominique Sellers had 11. Carly Hislop provided 10 points. 

The Pacers host Cabrini College Wednesday at 6:00 pm as part of a doubleheader.
