Rosemont, PA – Marywood's mid-second half run to get back to within four points was thwarted by consecutive three's from host Rosemont and the Ravens went on to defeat the Pacers 70-56 in CSAC men's basketball action Saturday afternoon.  The Pacers, who fell to 10-7 (5-5 CSAC) with the loss, were led by Shane Kellaher's team high 12 points.  Rosemont improved to 9-8 (7-3 CSAC) with the win.

The Pacers stayed close in the early going, trailing the Ravens by at most four points throughout the first eight minutes of play and forcing three ties.  Marywood would then take their first lead of the game (10-8) on a pair of free throws from Connor Callejas, but with Marywood leading 20-18 Rosemont closed the half by out-scoring the visitors 18-7 over the final six minutes to take a 36-27 lead into the locker room.

A three from Kellaher out of the break got the Pacers to within six, but the Ravens responded with a 9-0 run to take their largest lead of the game, 45-30, with 16:25 to go.

Marywood closed the gap to nine on a jumper from Jonathan Velazquez, two more freebies from Callejas and a trey from Velazquez that made it 45-37 in favor of the Ravens at the 13:29 mark.

With 10:21 to go, Marywood's Alex Barr nailed a jumper to bring the Pacers to within six points as the Ravens held a 47-41 lead.  Shane Letthand would then hit one of two from the charity stripe at the 9:24 mark to cut the Pacers' deficit to five at 47-42.

After a pair of free throws put the Ravens back up seven, Jeremy Ringland nailed a three to make it 49-45, but the Ravens responded with two long balls of their own to go back up 10, 55-45 with 7:44 to play.

Within two minutes the Ravens were back up 11, and the Pacers could not recover again.

Marcus Thomas led all scorers with a game-high 18 points for the Ravens.  Dom Scafidi added 16.  Callejas was the only other Pacer in double digits as he finished with 10.

Marywood returns to action Wednesday when they travel to nearby Baptist Bible College for a 8:00 pm tip-off.
