Scranton, PA – Marywood University women's basketball shook off its winter break rust to power a 72-55 victory over King's College in the Sleep Inn-Dunmore Holiday Classic Saturday. The Pacers flexed its down low presence, outscoring the Monarchs 48-16 in the paint.

Danielle Terranella led four players in double figures for the Pacers. Terranella scored a game-high 21 points and added eight rebounds. Maggie Presnal supplied her second straight double-double with 13 points and 14 boards. Nora Joyce added 16 points, and Lindsey Schroth contributed 15.

Alexa Gerchman had an all-around effort with seven assists, eight rebounds and four steals.

Marywood utilized the tournament as a Play for Gray event to raise awareness for brain cancer. King's coach Brian Donaghue was diagnosed with Stage 3 brain cancer in 2013. Donations and proceeds went towards raising funds to help Donoghue and his family, including his wife Andrea and three young children, in his battle with the disease. Teams wore gray – the color synonymous with brain cancer awareness – warmup shirts and socks.

The Pacers kept the Monarchs to just 33 percent shooting. King's Kayla Feairheller posted 13 points, and Kasey Seitz chipped in with 11. Marissa Manning registered eight rebounds.

Marywood shot 45.3 percent from the field. The Pacers missed all 11 3-point shots and managed just a 56 percent clip from the charity stripe. Continuing with its front court domination, the Pacers outrebounded King's 52-30 and blocked four shots.

Tied at 9-9 after an error-ridden first eight minutes, Marywood went on a nine-point run, five scored by Joyce, and kept the Monarchs scoreless for the next six minutes. Olivia Hoffman kicked off a 9-1 King's advantage. The Monarchs were within one possession of the lead before Presnal finished the first half with a layup to give the Pacers a 27-23 going into the locker room.

King's opened the second half on a five-point run, taking a 28-27 lead at the 18:09 mark. The lead was short-lived as Presnal notched an old-fashioned three-point play to jumpstart a seven-point run for the Pacers. The Monarchs roared back, cutting the deficit to two on a Manning long ball from way behind the arc. A series of crisp passing by the Pacers quickly put the game away with a 15-1 run. Terranella set up two backdoor layups, and Gerchman two-hand passed from behind her head to Joyce for a thrilling put in.

The Sleep Inn-Dunmore Holiday Classic continues Sunday. King's takes on Keystone in the opener at 2:00 pm. Marywood hosts Mount Aloysius College in the nightcap at 4:00 pm. Mount Aloysius downed Keystone in the second game Saturday by an 87-80 margin. The tournament will continue its Play For Gray theme during both games Sunday.
