Giants Overpower Marywood in Three Sets

Scranton, PA – The Marywood University women's volleyball team fell to Keystone College in three sets Thursday in Colonial States Athletics Conference action. The Pacers dropped to the Giants by scores of 25-11, 25-13, 25-22.

Marywood (1-13, 1-2 CSAC) was led by Mallorie Deschaine's 13 kills. Her 13 kills were the second most for any Pacer this season in a three-set match. She also led the team with nine digs.

Danielle DeIulio contributed 13 assists, six digs and two blocks. Amanda Khozouri notched eight digs. Shayna Finn produced six digs as well.

Marywood tacked on eight blocks, led by Meghan Weeks' three block assists. Lauren Besecker tallied two solo and two assisted stuffs.

In the first set, Keystone jumped out to a large lead, thanks to a .529 hitting percentage. The Pacers and Giants were tied 11-11 in the second set before Keystone stormed for 13 straight points on Shaylah Ware attacks. For the third set, Marywood led by as much as 14-9. Keystone came back to tie it at 20 apiece. Hannah Zuchowski took the lead with a kill from Carol Mosier. Two consecutive service aces from Ashley Williams gave the Giants a three-point lead before Zuchowski closed it with two kills.

Marywood shot .000 for the game, compared to the Giants' .135 attack percentage. The Pacers held onto an 8-4 advantage in blocks.

Needing 26 to reach the 1,000 milestone, Zuchowski finished with 11 kills, in addition to 12 digs. Carol Mosier had 15 assists. Ware tabbed five aces.

Marywood hosts Notre Dame University of Maryland Saturday at 1:00 pm.
