Gwynedd Valley, PA - Host Gwynedd Mercy University handed Marywood University their second consecutive defeat to end the regular season and the Griffins finished with an unblemished 10-0 CSAC mark to clinch the top seed in the CSAC post-season tournament with an 8-1 win over the Pacers Saturday.

With the loss, Marywood (8-2 CSAC) finished in a three-way tie for second with Immaculata University and Cabrini College, who also had 8-2 records.  Via tiebreaker, Immaculata earned the second seed while Marywood will be #3 and Cabrini #4.

Gwynedd improved to 15-1 with the win while Marywood closes the regular season at 10-4. 

The Griffins cruised at #1 (8-1) and #3 doubles (8-2) while Abygail Doud and Melanie Kobela gave Taylor Michener and Natalie Danze all they could handle at #2 doubles before falling 9-8 (7-1). 

In singles, Marywood got their lone point at #6 singles when Shannon Spencer beat Jenna Caffarello in a superset, 8-5.  The tightest singles match came at #3 where Amanda Goff held off Devon Underwood, 6-3, 6-4. 

The first CSAC semifinal featuring Gwynedd Mercy and Cabrini will begin at approxmately 10am at the Legacy Club in Philadelphia on Friday.  Marywood and Immaculata will take the courts approximately a half an hour after semifinal #1 ends, with the winners squaring off Saturday at 4:30 pm for the CSAC Championship and an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament held in the spring.
