Volleyball Breezes Past Highlanders, Stay Within Playoff Reach

Scranton, PA - Marywood University cruised to a three-set victory over Cairn University Saturday in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's volleyball. The Pacers won by scores of 25-5, 25-8, 25-9. Marywood ups its record to above .500 in the CSAC, standing at 5-15 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

Mallorie Deschaine had the second-best hitting performance in modern history at Marywood with 12 kills, one error on 19 chances. Her .579 attack percentage falls second only to Ashley Zalewski '15 in her sophomore season versus Rutgers-Camden (.583).

As a team, Marywood shot a .444 attack percentage - by far its highest in the past four seasons. The Pacers committed just four errors for the match. It was the highest shooting outing since a .516 attack percentage against Penn State Worthington-Scranton in 2011.

The trio of Lauren Besecker, Mallory Mokay and Amanda Khozouri totaled eight digs apiece. Danielle DeIulio made 18 assists.

Khozouri totaled four service aces. As a team, Marywood counted a season-high 17 aces, its most since tallying the same mark versus Centenary and Rosemont last year.
Cairn had five kills on the match. Whitney Seidel tied for a game-high eight digs.

The Pacers hosted their annual Dig Pink event to raise funds for breast cancer awareness.

Marywood stands a half-game out of the CSAC playoff scenario with one fewer game played than Gwynedd Mercy for the sixth and final slot.
