Clarks Summit, PA - Host Marywood University swept doubles action, including winnning two tight doubles matches, and earned a split in singles matches as the Pacers beat Cabrini College 6-3 in a battle of two undefeated league teams in CSAC women's tennis action Friday afternoon at Birchwood Tennis Club in Clarks Summit.

Marywood improved to 7-1 overall in winning their sixth straight match and remained unbeaten in league play at 6-0 while the Cavaliers fell to 5-5 overall and were handed their first conference match set-back (4-1).

The Pacers took both the #1 and #3 doubles matches by a close score of 9-7 to highlight a sweep of doubles play.  Avery McCall and Devon Underwood defeated Elena Conway and Terra McHenry at the top doubles flight while Nicole Sinclair and Devin Zombek held off Amy Held and Maggie Javitt at #3 doubles. 

At #2 doubles, Abygail Doud and Melanie Kobela gave Marywood an early 1-0 lead with a 8-3 win over Nicole Broccolino and Tori Yeich.

Cabrini got back in the match with wins at one, two and three singles play as McHenry defeated McCall 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 and Broccolino downed Doud 6-0, 6-4.  At #3 singles, Underwood fell 6-4, 6-3 to Conway.


Kobela got Marywood back on track with a 6-2, 6-1 win at #4 singles and at #6 singles Shannon Spencer defeated Held, 6-1, 6-2. Sinclair was also a victor for the Pacers with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 win at #5 singles over Javitt.

Marywood will host Neumann University Saturday at 4:00 pm.  That match will also be played at Birchwood Tennis Club in Clarks Summit due to expected inclement weather outdoors.
