Scoring Records Smashed in Pacers' Rout of Gators

Scranton, PA - Marywood University field hockey set a school record with 12 goals scored in a 12-0 shutout of Notre Dame of Maryland University Saturday in Colonial States Athletics Conference action. The Pacers rewrite the previous team record (10) set last season versus Cedar Crest.

Gabbie Bower netted a hat trick in the first 15 minutes. She punched in her third of the game on a tap-in in front of the cage following a rebound from a previous shot attempt. Bower also found net in the third and ninth minutes.

Leanne McManus scored two goals to break the school's career mark for most scored. Her 50th breaks the 48-goal record set by Annemarie Tichy '99. Two assists increased her career points to 114 and put her fourth in program history with 14. She has 21 goals on the season. Her first came 36 minutes into the game from a tap-in off a save.

Amelia Waibel totaled five points on two goals and an assist. Cassie Stockwell added a goal and an assist for three points.


Playing in the final home match of her career, senior defender Maria Ryle scored her second career goal on a follow up after her first two shots were saved. Ryle found the cage for the first time in two seasons.

Marywood (9-6, 5-1 CSAC) scored five in the first nine minutes.

The Pacers also received goals from Michaela Schmidt, Julie Kowalski and Tori Jo Kakusian. Kakusian's goal tied Lauren Wynne '96 for second-most in a single season with her 16th of the year. It also puts her fifth for most points (34, tied with Wynne) in a single season.

Kirsten Webb earned her first point of the season and first career assist on a helper to Kakusian to the 18th minute. Nicole Merrill made one save in goal for the shutout.

Coach Kacy Manning honored seniors Leanne McManus, Julie Kowalski and Maria Ryle prior to the game.

Marywood travels to CSAC-leading Gwynedd Mercy University Wednesday at 6:00 pm. The Pacers are tied with Cabrini College for second place in the conference with the Cavs' holding a head-to-head tiebreaker.
